About Tai Tapu Hotel Restaurant, Bar & Function Venue
Tai Tapu Hotel is a country pub and function venue at the foot of the Port Hills, just outside Christchurch on the road to Akaroa. The hotel dates from 1856 and began as a stagecoach inn with stables and a forge.
Today it runs a restaurant and bar with live bands, quiz nights and weekly deals, plus a large beer garden and playground. A standalone function room with its own grounds, built in 2016, hosts weddings, birthday parties, winter balls, conferences and christenings, and there is room for a helicopter to land.
