Wedding Venues in Selwyn

Selwyn is where wedding venues in Christchurch stop being city function rooms and become vineyards, farms and country gardens. This page holds 15 of them, spread across Tai Tapu, Prebbleton, West Melton, Rolleston, Springston and Leeston, and out west toward Darfield and Kirwee.

Nearly all of them are a country drive from the city. Couples who picture a ceremony among grapevines, on a lawn under old trees or in a barn will find most of that choice in this part of Canterbury.

Vineyards and wineries carry a large share of the local trade.

• Melton Estate is a winery and restaurant on 12 acres in West Melton, with Pinot Noir vines around its restaurant and a deck over the vineyard.
• Langdale Vineyard Restaurant, also in West Melton, sits in a large garden among vines first planted in 1989, with roses, lavender and French doors opening from the restaurant onto the garden.
• Cossars Wineshed offers three ceremony locations: a clearing among the grapevines, a lawn beside the courtyard, or the courtyard itself with its rustic barn doors.
• Trent's Vineyard in Prebbleton holds ceremonies on the lawn beneath a Victorian gazebo and receptions on site.

Barns, farms and heritage buildings are the other strand.

• Larcomb Vineyard in Rolleston surrounds heritage buildings and a red barn with manicured gardens, and its Big Barn can be sized to suit the guest count.
• Bangor Farm at Darfield has 50 acres of parkland and historic oaks, a Wedding Lawn with marquee sites, a rustic ceremony setting called The Folly, and The Ponds for a ceremony by the water.
• Pemberton Gardens in Prebbleton offers established gardens, courtyards and a pagoda.
• Otahuna Lodge on Rhodes Road in Tai Tapu is a Victorian mansion built in 1895, set in 30 acres of original gardens beside a lake, and its Ballroom seats up to 64 for a wedding dinner. Tai Tapu Hotel dates from 1856, began life as a stagecoach inn and now works as a country pub and function venue with a large beer garden.
